My favorite poem. Get inspired... and... Change!

Edson Marques
CHANGE

Change.
But start slowly,
Because the direction is more important than
the speed.
Sit on a different chair, on a different side of
the table.
Later, move to a different table.
When you go outside, try to walk on the
different side of the road.
Later change the road, walk through
different paths,
calmly,
attentively observing the places that you are
passing by.
Take a different bus.
Change for some time your clothing style.
Give away your old shoes. Try to walk
barefoot for a few days.
Use a whole afternoon to walk around freely
on a beach, or in the park,
and listen to the songs of little birds.
See the world from a different perspective.
Open and close the drawers and doors with a
left hand.
Sleep on the other side of the bed…
later, try to sleep in other beds.
Watch different TV programs, buy different
magazines… read different books.
Live different romances.
Don’t make a habit of your way of life.
Love the novelty.
Sleep later. Sleep earlier.
Learn a new word ever day in a different
language.
Correct your posture.
Eat a little less, chose different foods,
new spices, new colors, new delicacies.
Try something new every day,
a new side, a new method, a new taste, a
new way, a new pleasure, a new love, a new
life.
Try.
Find new friends.
Try new loves.
Make new relationships.
Eat lunch in different locations, go to
different restaurants,
Drink a different drink, buy bread in a
different bakery.
Eat lunch earlier, eat dinner later or the other
way round.
Chose a different market-place… different
brand of soap,
Different tooth paste…
have a shower at a different time.
Use pens that right in different colors,
Go for a walk in different places,
Love a lot, each time more, and in different
ways.
Change your bag, the wallet, the suitcases,
change your car, buy new glasses,
write different poetries.
Throw away old watches,
burn delicately those horrible alarm-clocks.
Open an account in a different bank.
Go to different cinemas, to a different hair-
dresser, other theaters, visit new museums.
Change.
Remember that you have only one life.
And think very seriously about getting a
new job,
new activity, a job more “light”,
more pleasurable,
more dignified, more human.
If you don’t find reasons for being free,
invent them.
Be creative.
Take a chance to make an unpretentious
(simple and sincere) trip,
long,
if possible without a clear destination.
Experiment new things.
Change things.
Change, again.
Experiment again.
You will certainly find-out things that are
better, and thing that are worse than the ones
you already knew.
But that is not what is important.
The most important is the change, the
movement, the dynamism, the energy.
Only the dead people do not change!

Mude
(Portuguese - original version)
Mude.
jornais... leia outros livros.
Viva outros romances.
Ame a novidade.
Corrija a postura.
Coma um pouco menos, escolha comidas diferentes,

novos temperos, novas cores, novas delícias.
Tente o novo todo dia,
o novo lado, o novo método, o novo sabor, o novo
jeito, o novo prazer, o novo amor, a nova vida.
Tente.
Busque novos amigos.
Tente novos amores.
poesias.
Jogue fora os velhos relógios,
quebre delicadamente esses horrorosos despertadores.
Abra conta em outro banco.
Vá a outros cinemas, outros cabeleireiros, outros
teatros, visite novos museus.
Mude.
invente-as.
Seja criativo.
E aproveite para fazer uma viagem despretensiosa,
longa,
se possível sem destino.
Experimente coisas novas.
Troque novamente.
Mude, de novo.
Experimente outra vez.
dinamismo, a energia.
Só o que está morto não muda!

Keiskis
(Lietuviškai)

Keiskis.
Bet pradėk neskubėdamas,
nes kryptis yra žymiai svarbesnė nei greitis.
Sėskis ant kitos kėdės, kitame stalo gale.
Vėliau pakeisk ir stalą.
Kai išeisi laukan, stenkis eiti kita gatvės puse.
Po to, pasirink kitą kelią, eik kitais maršrutais,
Ramiai,
ir nuosekliai apžiūrėdamas vietas pro kurias praeini.
Važiuok kitais autobusais.
Pakeisk, kuriam laikui savo aprangos stilių.
Atiduok savo senus batus.
Gyvenk kitus romanus.
Negyvenk pagal rutiną.
Mylėk naujienas.
Eik miegoti vėliau. Eik miegoti anksčiau.
Kas dieną išmok vieną naują žodį vis kitos kalbos.
Pataisyk savo pozą.
Valgyk šiek tiek mažiau ir pasirink skirtingus patiekalus,
Naujus prieskonius, naujas spalvas, naujus skanėstus.
Bandyk kažką naujo kiekvieną dieną,
naują pusę, naują metodą, naują skonį, naują būdą, naują malonumą, naują meilę, naują gyvenimą.
Bandyk.
Ieškok naujų draugų.
Bandyk naujas meiles.
Užmegzk naujus santykius.
Pietauk kitose vietose, eik į kitus restoranus,
Gerk skirtingą gėrimą, pirk duoną kitoje kepykloje.
Pietauk anksčiau, vakarieniauk vėliau arba atvirkščiai.
Pasirink kitą parduotuvę... kitos firmos muilą,
kitokią dantų pastą...
maudykis kitu laiku.
kitus teatrus, aplankyk naujus muziejus.
Keiskis.
Nepamiršk, kad gyveni tik vieną kartą.
Ir rimtai pamąstyk apie darbo pakeitimą,
naują užsiėmimą, šviesesnį darbą, suteikiantį daugiau malonumo,
garbingesnį, žmoniškesnį.
Jeigu nerandi priežasčių būti laisvesniu, susikurk jas.
Būk kūrybingas.
Ištrūk kelionei,
nerūpestingai,
ilgai,
jei įmanoma be galutinio tiklso.
Išbandyk naujus dalykus
Vėl pakeisk.
Keiskis, dar kartą.
Dar kartą eksperimentuok.
Be abejo atrasi geresnių ir blogesnių dalykų negu tai ką jau gerai pažįsti.
Bet ne tai svarbiausia.
Svarbiausia yra pats keitimasis,
judėjimas,
dinamizmas, energija.
Nes tik numirėliai nesikeičia.

Day-trip in Barcelona (in English)

Day-trip in Barcelona (in English) - will be updated soon

Food

Here is some suggestions translated form the Lithuanian entry of my blog about places to eat at in Barcelona (be aware these suggestions are from my memories in 2009 so things might have changed):

First, some general advice:
·     Try not to eat in turist places like Rambla – it is typically very expensive and has nothing to do with the local cuisine. Get off the main street and try smaller restaurants.

·     Paella – is neither Barcelona nor Calatan dish. God forbid eating it on Rambla or similar places – it will not be decent quality and you’ll be very disappointed. If you really want one, try Barceloneta district (by the sea) but think that it’ll be on the more expensive side (40 eur or more per person).

·      Also, don’t forget there are strict times when people eat in Spain. Lunch is typically from 1pm to 4pm, and dinner anywhere from 8pm to 12am. On other times all normal places will be closed.
Here are some good restaurants to try:
·     La Flauta (C/ Aribau, 23 arba C/ Balmes, 164) – Tapas (small few bites-sized plates of food). Among the best tapas in Barcelona. There are two restaurants the better one is in Aribau street although it’s always full of people too. Sometimes you might need to wait 30-40 minutes to get in. They don’t take bookings.

What to eat: I normally would eat there Pan amb Tomaca (roast bread with tomato – the famous Catalan entry), patatas bravas (roast potatoes with special dressing), huevos rancheros (very tasty egg meal), calamares a la romana (fried calamari)… But anything you’ll try will be very good.

For desert don’t miss the Crema Catalana and Flan.
Comments: This place is very good. Very tasty, high quality and generally low prices.

·      Retorno - (C/ Comte d'Urgell, 168) – Sea food. Among my most favorite places in Barcelona. Very small and not fancy looking but the food quality and price don’t have equal in the whole of Barcelona. It’s best to make a reservation in advance at tel: 93 415 51 86  (you could ask your hotel to do it for you).
What to eat: very worthy to try pescaditos fritos (small fried fish), calamares (calamari), pulpo a la gallega (Galician octopus – their specialty), and mejillones (muscles). The dishes are Massive! So for two people take 3 dishes (half a portion) and share. If you feel a bit adventurous try their non-filtered white wine (I loved it) called Vino Turbio – it’s very cheap, very traditional and tasty.

·      For a little classier cousine try Balthasar (C/ rosello 189), Attico (Rambla 120) – good food and not crazy pricing in general.
As much for non-Spanish foods if you would like:
·      Tagliatelle – Italian food. Very very recommendable. Very neat atmosphere, fascinating Italian food and good prices (their pizzas and pastas will blow your mind). There is a few of them. See which one is closest to you on the internet.

·      La Carassa (C/ Brosolí, 1) for Fondue (Swiss cheese pot with bread). Is extremely good. A little pricier, with wine you would spend about 70 EUR for two people but it’s worth it.

·      Panchito – Mexican food. Good food, good prices. There is a couple of them – check on the internet which one is closer.

·      Restaurants in Gracia. The district is amazing – worth visiting in the evening. The whole district is full of great food places and nice atmosphere. As in your hotel for an exact street as I cannot recall the names.
  • Some very good Italian pizzerias. La Bella Napoli (C/ Villarroel, 101), Il Golfo di Napoli (C/ De Lleida, 38).

My fist ever Korean mini-story:
